Dansbury Park Stand Down, January 11th 2026

On Sunday, 11-Jan-2026, your support directly helped 45 Veterans, their dependents, surviving military family members and others at Dansbury Park in East Stroudsburg. A rousing Thank You to The Knights of Columbus, The Rotary and Pub 447 for providing food and support, and of course we couldn't have done it without our fantastic 22 Volunteers who came out in strength to help the homeless and our neighbors in East Stroudsburg!

Meeting Veterans in the community at our Stand Downs gives VALOR (Veterans Assisted Living Out Reach) case management the first-hand opportunity to meet personally with Veterans who might not be initially inclined to come into our VALOR offices, where help can be provided.

VALOR goes out into the community to meet with our Veterans in the neighborhoods where they live or as close as we can get to make it easy on the Veteran(s) to come out and meet-up with us. Our Stand Downs allow us to provide clothing, shoes, food, hygiene (health and beauty care) items. We ask about their well being overall. Where ever a Veteran has the need, VALOR then works with each Veteran to to see if we can help them with improved diet / nutrition / healthcare, including both medical / physical and where appropriate mental health care. We support Veterans by reviewing, if they would like, their financial health- income and expenses and we look for ways to help the Veteran possibly increase their income and/or reduce or get assistance with their expenses. We review their transportation and in some cases we have helped Veterans get a driver's license, car repairs or a new car and the ability to have independence through their transportation needs being met. We help Veterans with their housing / shelter. We help them review and assess their overall life-plan in support them in building a plan (where its helpful) to get purpose and direction back in their life so that life's challenges can be better met. Above all, we make sure our Veterans know they are not alone with whatever is going on. These relationships with our Veterans often begin at a VALOR Clinic Stand Down community outreach day of caring, like the one held Sunday, January 11, 2026. Every 2nd Sunday of each month, the VALOR Clinic Stand Down community outreach day of caring is held at Dansbury Park in East Stroudsburg from 10 am to 12 pm - please come out and see us next month!
