Honoring the fallen

Albert Jenkins made a rubbing of a name from The Wall That Heals, a traveling replica of the Vietnam Veteran Memorial. Then, he made another. And another.
His hand trembled as he pulled a white piece of paper with eight names written on it from his pocket.

“I’m getting all these names off the wall today,” he said with his voice cracking. “I knew all these men. Some I served with, some I just knew, but all eight died in Vietnam.”

Jenkins pointed at two particular names.

“These two,” he said, “one was in front of me, and one was behind me when they were killed.”
