Some ENC Marines took a motorcycle ride Saturday morning to support veteran suicide prevention.

The proceeds from the ride go to non-profit 22untilnone. It helps veterans with their finances. The name of the group comes from a statistic a few years back that 22 veterans commit suicide each day. Officials say today that number has gone down.

News 12 spoke to the program director who says they found that debt and financial challenges were the main triggers to veteran suicide. Saturday's ride by the Marine Riders Lower Cape Fear marked the second annual "veteran suicide prevention and awareness ride." The ride started at New River Harley Davidson and ended at the VFW Center in Jacksonville.
