TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Wednesday morning, we had the chance to speak with a local Vietnam veteran who got to go on an unforgettable trip on the Indy Honor Flight.
The Indy Honor Flight transports WWII, Korea, and Vietnam veterans to see the memorials built in their honor in Washington, D.C. for free. Vietnam veteran James McDonald said he couldn’t believe all the small details that went into making this trip unique.
“There were people and volunteers there to greet us along with other people in the terminal clapping for us and thanking us,” said McDonald. “They even had the airport’s fire department spraying arching water over top of the plane as it came into park.”
