Houston Texans rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud announced Thursday that he will gift a military veteran and his son a trip to this year's Super Bowl in Las Vegas.

The veteran, Sergeant Craig Mazeska, is a retired Purple Heart recipient living Washington D.C. He served in the Marines from 1988 to 1994, including deployments in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Iraq during Operation Desert Storm and the Gulf War. He received a Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Kuwait Liberation Medal and Unit Citation for his service.

The cause is personal to Stroud, whose brother, Isaiah, served in the Navy.

"Coming from a military family has helped shape me into the man I am today—seeing firsthand the sacrifice required," Stroud said in his announcement.
