PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A field along US-131 near the LMCU Ballpark has filled with 660 white wooden crosses, each bearing the name of a veteran who died by suicide.
Volunteers have added 22 crosses daily since July 11, representing the estimated number of U.S. veterans who die by suicide each day. The display concludes Saturday with a closing ceremony at 1 p.m., now moved to the American Legion Boat and Canoe Club on Park Street due to heat.
